Definition: Cephalopods are animals in the Phylum Mollusca and Class Cephalopoda, which includes squid, octopus, cuttlefish and nautilus. Cephalopods are ancient species - they have been around for about 500 million years. There are about 800 species of cephalopods in existence today.
