Definition:
The Kingdom Chromista contains plant-like organisms that possess chlorophyll a and c and other pigments that give them their yellow-brown color (fucoxanthin). Most of the chromists can perform photosynthesis, and all have two flagella (one with brush-like extensions) at some point in their life cycles.
Chromists were originally in the Kingdom Protista.
Examples of chromists: brown algae (e.g., kelp), water molds, diatoms.
