Knotted wrack is a type of brown algae that is common in the intertidal zone in the western Atlantic Ocean from the Arctic Circle to Virginia, and in the eastern Atlantic from Norway to Portugal.

Knotted wrack has thin fronds with single air bladders, and hangs down over the rocks on which it attaches, covering the rocks in a thick mat.
